EVRi phishing scam

Sometimes, coincidences make me very uneasy.

I received this email, on the very same day I was expecting a delivery from EVRi.

But something made me pause – and re-check the message – before clicking on the links.

The best indicator of a phishing or scam email is always the sender’s address – and this one didn’t disappoint – “infomails-qyrbrvjy829@driks.com.mx”

Then a check on the use of English: “Delivery Informed” –“We’re informing about your parcel from EVRi is missed delivery” – evidently not from someone with a decent command of the language.

It may (or not) surprise you to learn there are now unscrupulous individuals offering a service to scammers, to proof-read their emails – in an attempt to make them ever more convincing.

The solution is never respond to an email by clicking on the embedded links. If you need to respond use the email and/or web addresses you hold on file. That way you’ll reduce the chance of ever being scammed.

As usual, advise any vulnerable friends and relatives who might be taken in – and stay safe out there!
