November sees 26% drop in burglaries

In the build up to Christmas Cheshire Police have been running their ‘Blue Christmas’ campaign working with the residents of Cheshire to reduce the number of victims of crime.  The campaign has been encouraging people to think about security including home, vehicle, and personal security as well as property marking.
Figures just released show that the month of November 2014 has seen a 26% drop in burglaries compared to last year, down from 300 to 221.  This is building on the work done in previous years which has seen an overall reduction in burglaries of 31% since 2012.
Superintendent Martin Cleworth said: “It is great to see that the people of Cheshire have really taken the messages onboard and are making life difficult for criminals in our area.  The advice we have been giving out is simple security advice, the key is to get people to think about it so that they will act.
“A 26% drop in burglaries is impressive but more importantly that figure means there are 79 less families or individuals having to deal with the distress and upset that comes with being burgled.  I would encourage everyone to keep up the good work and continue to ensure that your home and valuables are as secure as they can be.”
If you have any information about criminals operating in your area call 101or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.  In an emergency always call 999.
